Grandmas Vase

Oil on Canvas Panel
8"x10"

This weeks DPW challenge was to paint in gray scale from life.  After a while of not painting with oils it was fun to use them again.  The bonus of painting in Gray scale is that I didn't have to worry so much about things getting muddy (a problem I ran into often before).  The vase looks a little crooked... and could use a little blending yet.  Since the little one is done napping I consider myself out of time for this one.  Thanks for looking!!

Character of a Tree

Oil Pastel on Watercolor Paper
8" x 3.5" with 1.5" boarder on all sides

Last weeks DPW challenge was to capture the essence of a tree.  It only took me 2 weeks to find the time to "art".  At least I got it done eventually!  I'm enjoying working with oil pastels, or "fancy crayons" as a colleague calls them.

Carrot

Watercolor on paper / 7"x3"

This is another DPW challenge.  The challenge was to paint a root vegetable or bulb.  My carrot is pretty straight forward, I only used 3 colors.  I may try it again and spice it up with some more colors.
Thanks for looking!

Zorn Challenge

Watercolor on Ampersand Aqua Board / 5"x7"

This weeks challenge on Daily Paintwork's was to paint a painting using only 4 colors.  Titanium White, Ivory Black,  Yellow Ochre, and Cadmium Red.  I sat down during Maddie's nap and whipped this out.  It was a great challenge using only 4 colors!  The greens were very hard to achieve.
