30 paintings in 30 days. #18

"San Jose Mission"

Oil on canvas panel, 8"x10". $60.00 + 7.00 S/H.

What I love about painting is that your allowed to try something different every day! This one feels very masculine to me, which is interesting because DJ really liked it... I like the straight lines and the contrast between highlight and shadow areas, it feels very clean.

30 paintings in 30 days. #17

"The Eye of the Storm"

Oil on canvas panel, 8"x10". $45.00 + 7.00 S/H.

This was a fun one to paint, the rays of sun make it a little more pop-arty than what I've been doing, but with the bright colors, I think it works. This was an august sunset over the White Tank mountains, west of Phoenix. The summer monsoons make great clouds and great sunsets.

30 paintings in 30 days. #16

"Havasu Falls"

Oil on Canvas panel, 6"x8". $60.00 + 7.00 S/H

This is the first time I've ever painted falling water, and it's interesting how much texture it has. It was really neat when you walk to the falls you start at the top, and follow a path down to the pool, you have a great view of the falls the entire walk.

"Our Campsite"

Oil on canvas panel, 8"x10". $60.00 +7.00 S/H

Since I started doing my 30 paintings, I had been conscious to stay in a limited color palette. I tried to limit myself on this one, but it just wasn't working, oh well. This was the campsite that DJ and I stayed at last summer in Crown King. We had the dogs with us for the first time, and boy did it storm. Good thing we had the little structure to keep us dry.

30 paintings in 30 days. #14

"Montana River Rapids"

Oil on canvas panel, 5"x7". $40.00 +7.00 S/H

This painting was fun, very loose. DJ always reminds me that "painters lie," a motto he picked up from Mark Dean, his lighting design professor in Montana. Much to his surprise I took his advice and "lied" about the color of the water.

"Horsethief Dam"

Oil on canvas panel, 8"x10". $60.00 + 7.00 S/H.

This is Horsethief Dam on the lake at Crown King. DJ and I visited it last summer to get out of the heat of the city, it was so refreshing and beautiful. I used 6 colors in this painting, Torrit Grey, the free color that Gamblin sends out every spring, is the foundation. The painting feels very cool, which is what DJ and I were looking for last summer. Thanks for looking!

"Boxwood Beauty"

Oil on canvas panel, 6"x6". Not For Sale.

With this post I'm 1/3 of the way done with my 30 paintings. It's been really fun, and some days challenging to figure out what to paint. That's why the flower instead of a landscape, even changing the size of the painting keeps it fresh. I'm sure there will be lot's more interesting and different subjects to come. Thanks for looking!

30 paintings in 30 days. #8 & #9

"Butte in Evening" "Butte in Morning"

Oil on canvas panel, 6"x8". $30.00 each + 7.00 S/H.

I'm not sure what these two need... It's the same butte in different lighting, maybe the composition just isn't very exciting, I'm not sure. But, I guess I have to move on and start on the next one. Thanks to everyone for looking!
