Description: I painted these paintings to hang on the wall of the Inn for the play Fiddler on the Roof. They were each painted in 4 hours. After Fiddler opens on January 11th life should slow down a little and I can get back to painting more small paintings- I really miss it!
About this Painting: On our trip back through Montana on our move to Arizona DJ and I drove through a storm that had a life of it's own. The wheat was glowing and the sky was alive with contrasting blues and golds, it was beautiful. I tried painting on Masonite today, instead of canvas, and found that it is a great neutral color to paint on, however it is much harder to blend on than canvas, brush strokes become part of the texture.
About this painting: Courtyard at San Xavier del Bac Mission is a study of color. I used large brush strokes, creating an impressionistic feel.
About this painting: Last night DJ and I went to a movie and in the parking lot there was the most amazing sunset I've seen in a long time (I can't say best ever- some of those winter mornings in Nebraska were pretty far up there). We didn't get a picture of the sunset we saw- so I elaborated on what my mind's eye remembers. It was really a fun little piece to do- they are very small, so I'll probably frame them and sell them as a pair. Sorry for the bad photograph. 
About this painting: DJ and I went hiking yesterday at Thunderbird Park, on the north side of Peoria. It was a great hike, and a nice sunset.
About this painting: For this painting I decided to work kind of loosely. It's a more stylized than I usually do, and the color is enhanced a bit.

About this painting: This weekend DJ and I went on a trip to Tucson. On our way home we took a detour and discovered an off-road trail that went through Butterfield Pass.
About this painting: This is a study of women in dramatic red lighting. Since I started my painting a day project I've found that I have definitely not settled on one subject or one style. I really like the idea of painting the human figure. People fascinate me, but I have very little practice in this area- and having moved to Phoenix only 6 weeks ago I seem to have few people that I know well enough to attempt a portrait on, I keep asking DJ, but he pretty much dodges the question. Anyway, here's todays painting.
About this Painting: After a LONG week of Technical Rehearsals for "Little Shop of Horrors" it was really great to get back to my daily paintings. 
About this painting: On January 2, 2006, the day before our wedding DJ and I took members of my family to Lost Trail Ski Area. It was such an amazing day. All of the trees were weighed down with dense sparkling snow. Everything was white. This is a study of two of the trees from a photo we took.
About this painting: While living in Missoula one of my favorite things to do was hike to the L on the side of Mount Jumbo. This is a view of Montana Snow Bowl, about 1/4 of the way up the trail.
About this painting: This was painted from a photo taken along I15 headed south through Central Utah. It was taken on New Years Eve of 2006.
